Brian Laundrie’s Parents Hid The Fact That A Gun Was Missing From Their Home

The parents of Brian Laundrie kept something a secret; one of their guns was missing from the home. On September 17th, the day Brian was reported missing, the family surrendered 5 or 6 guns to police.

They knew one was missing, although even now, it’s not confirmed that Brian took the gun with him. It’s likely though, because his death has been ruled a suicide by gunshot to the head.

“We didn’t want the public going into a frenzy on that,” the family attorney told DailyMail.com. “I don’t think they considered him dangerous to anybody he met on the street.”

Brian was the sole suspect in the disappearance and death of his girlfriend Gabby Petito. Gabby’s body was found near a camping site in Wyoming after Brian had returned home to Florida without her. Her death was ruled a homicide and the cause of death was determined to be manual strangulation.

For Brian’s parents to keep the knowledge of a missing firearm from the home isn’t surprising, since many across the country were angered by the entire ordeal that played out on TV for over a month. If it was known he were armed, things could have been a lot more interesting, and not in a
