STILL UNDER ATTACK: 11th Vehicle Shooting Reported On I-10 In Phoenix

Published

PHOENIX, ARIZONA — The eleventh reported incident of gunfire along I-10 has instilled drivers with greater anxiety while traveling a vital interstate corridor.  This follows on the heels of prior reported incidents of targeted gunfire along the I-10 corridor.  These incidents have been ongoing for nearly two weeks with no word yet from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) on releasing any identifying information on the suspect or suspects responsible for these incidents.

11th-shot

This most recent gunfire was reported on September 10 at 9:40 am when a big rig truck stopped at a warehouse East of I-10, reported USA Today, and noticed a bullet hole in his truck.  It’s unknown when the damage was received but, like many of the prior events, it appears drivers are mostly made aware of the damages once they have cleared the area.

The tenth gunshot was found in a white pick-up truck travelling along the 43rd street region of I-10 on September 9.  No word yet from AZ DPS on ballistics results but so far DPS has characterized the attacks as using a wide range of projectiles – with at least three being probably BBs or extremely light caliber bullets.

“The safety of Arizonans is our No. 1 priority, and we are committed to apprehending those responsible for these crimes,” Gov. Doug Doucey said during a press conference. “I ask all Arizonans to stay alert and contact authorities with any information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of responsible parties. I assure you, this is the top the priority for the Department of Public Safety and the state of Arizona.”

Even as the 11th shot has been reported, there are other incidents currently under investigation today including another possible tractor trailer being hit at 11:00 am.  And earlier in the day, around 6:00 am, another motorist reported a possible BB pellet hitting his window.

According to USA Today, the Arizona Department of Public Safety is offering a $20,000 reward to anyone providing information useful in the apprehension of the agent or parties responsible in this case.
