Man Protects Girlfriend From Violent Ex-Husband — Why I Carry

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA — Tallahassee police have reported the death of a man while attempting to defend his girlfriend from her violent ex-husband.

Sheldon Maurice Rogers showed up to the home of his former spouse, armed and ready.  Moise Joseph, the boyfriend, stepped in between Rogers and his girlfriend, telling her to run.  Rogers brutally shot Joseph at close range, several times.  Joseph was reported dead at the scene according to the Fairfield Citizen.

Joseph’s girlfriend was able to escape and contact police, who came and arrested Rogers.

According to sources at the Fairfield Citizen, Joseph was an accomplished biologist whom had published multiple peer-reviewed scientific articles on cancer research through Florida A&M University.

Rogers and the woman were divorced in 2013 and shared custody of their 7-year-old son.

Rogers is due to appear in court today after being held without bond for premeditated murder and aggravated assault.

This is truly an occasion that could have been quickly solved had either Joseph or his girlfriend been armed with a concealed carry pistol. It’s unfortunate and sad that it didn’t end up that way.
