Gun Vs. Protection Order: Woman Shoots Ex-Husband As He Attempted To Break Into Her Home

CALHOUN COUNTY, ALABAMA — Police say a man was wounded by gunfire after he attempted to forcibly enter his ex-wife’s residence. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office reported that the man, identified as 47-year-old Scott Ingram from Munford, was shot several times during the attempted home invasion in Alexandria.

The Sheriff’s Office received a distress call on Tuesday afternoon from Ingram’s ex-wife, who reported the intrusion. Deputies arrived at the scene to find Ingram injured from multiple gunshots. He was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Both the caller and her daughter were found unharmed outside the house.

Initial investigations indicate that Ingram tried to break into the house and was shot as a result. Ingram’s criminal record is extensive, with six arrests since 2022, four breaches of a protection order, and an active arrest warrant for violating a protection order that was issued earlier that day. He was previously released on bond for a similar offense last year.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case and encourages anyone with further information to contact Sheriff Matthew Wade at [email protected].
