SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA — 55-year-old Mafalda Thayer was murdered at the hands of her boyfriend in broad daylight and in front of multiple witnesses. When police arrived, they found Thayer’s body next to her vehicle, and her head next to her body.

Her boyfriend, 42-year-old Alexis Saborit, has been charged with second-degree murder.

In 2017, Saborit was arrested for allegedly assaulting Thayer after she told police that Saborit thought she was speaking to another man at a bar. When police arrived, they found Saborit holding Thayer to the ground.

A pre-trial no-contact order was put into place, but Thayer wrote a hand-written letter to the court and asked that they lift the order.

FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT CARVER COUNTY, MN

The request by Thayer was granted by the court.

Four years later, she would be brutally murdered by the same man.

It isn’t yet known why Saborit did what he did, but the couple was known to police and have had a history of domestic violence.

Some people choose to remain in a bad relationship, while many others do not and may be scared to leave, or even forced to stay.
