Excessive Force? Man Runs Around Neighborhood Damaging Cars With Rock, Concealed Carrier Shoots Him

Published

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA — A 25-year-old resident and concealed carrier saw a man who was allegedly running through the neighborhood with a rock. What was he doing with that rock? He was hitting and damaging cars with it, while yelling and causing a scene.

What did the concealed carrier do? He shot him.

Now I wasn’t there, so I can’t tell you all the details, but it would seem that this use of force is excessive under the given circumstances.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

No charges have yet been filed against the armed citizen, but the future may change that.

If I were to witness this, I’d imagine that I would call police while keeping an eye on the guy. But pulling out my gun and shooting him? Nah, that’s not likely to happen.

If I were threatened with the rock, that could be a different story. HOWEVER, let’s remember that the first rule of self-defense is to figure out if you can safely get away. In this case, I think it’s safe to say that you could get away.

I’m going to keep tabs on this story to see if any charges are filed, or if any new information comes to light. But as it stands right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy faces charges for the shooting.

What are your thoughts?
