Father Returns Fire After Son Shot In Crossfire Between Two Other Parties

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA — In Southwest Philadelphia, a 12-year-old boy and a 43-year-old man were injured in a shooting outside an auto shop on Lindbergh Boulevard. The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The young boy sustained a minor head wound, while the man, a mechanic believed to be the intended target, was shot in the back and is in critical but stable condition at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

Surveillance footage revealed an exchange of gunfire at the scene. The father of the injured boy, present during the shooting, admitted to returning fire in defense of his son. He recounted the chaotic moments, describing how they initially sought refuge in the auto shop. The father, having lost sight of his son, later found him injured, prompting him to shoot back and then rush his son to the hospital.

The boy, who had just been picked up from school, was fortunately released after treatment, but the family is deeply traumatized. The father expressed his distress and the difficulty in coping with the incident.

As of now, no arrests have been made, although a weapon was recovered at the scene. The police are continuing their investigation and are appealing to the public for any information related to the shooting.
