JACKSON, MI — A woman in Jackson, Mississippi was assaulted by her enraged husband one morning earlier this month, the Clarion Ledger reports.
The woman was in severe danger — but she was responsibly armed and ready to defend herself in a pinch, even from her own husband.
She put the man out of commission and sent him off to the hospital — that’s a big score up for the equalizer.
As the Clarion Ledger reports:
The incident occurred at a home in the 300 block of Queen Julianna Lane. Shortly before 3 a.m., officers responded to the residence, where they learned there was a domestic altercation between a husband and wife.
A 32-year-old man had been shot once in the side by his wife, JPD said. Further investigation revealed that the 40-year-old woman had been assaulted by the victim before the shooting. The man was transported to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition. The woman was taken into custody for questioning. No charges have been filed in this case. The investigation is ongoing.
We often have the opportunity to highlight situations like this for the public — situations in which a man attempts impose their will on a woman whether it be robbery, domestic abuse, or even worse through the use of physical force — that are resolved by responsibly-armed women who are prepared to defend themselves against gross injustice.
It’s a pleasure every time.
It is an outrage that so many women are faced with abusers who are far stronger physically. Every time we see one stand up for themselves, we’ve got to spread the word like wildfire.
The more we see responsibly-armed men and women alike, the less frequently outrageous cases like these will appear.
