WATCH: Off-Duty Officer Shoots Attacker In Groin

MANACAPURU, AMAZONAS (2-minute read) – An off-duty military police officer was assaulted by two assailants at a local market in Manacapuru, Amazonas, while they attempted to steal his firearm. The incident, captured on social media, shows the officer defending himself and firing at one of the attackers, striking him in the groin.

During the confrontation, one criminal, who was later discovered to have an outstanding arrest warrant for robbery, was shot. He received medical attention after the officer promptly called an ambulance from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), which transported him to a nearby health facility.

The second assailant was apprehended by the Mobile Tactical Group (GTM) of the municipality. Following the event, the Military Police of Amazonas (PMAM) issued a statement affirming their commitment to public safety and indicating the officer’s cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
