Home Invader Met By Armed Resident Who Was Ready To Defend In Dallas

DALLAS, TEXAS — Early Sunday morning, a homeowner shot Nickolaus Benitez, 46, as he allegedly attempted to break into an apartment on Walnut Street. Police, responding to a 5 a.m. shooting report, learned from their preliminary investigation that the resident shot Benitez during the burglary attempt.

Benitez received medical treatment for his injuries before being arrested and charged with Burglary of a Habitation with Assault.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
