Why We Carry: Son Kills Mom And Her Boyfriend After Being Released From Jail Because He Was ‘Incompetent’ For Trial

Published

BRADENTON, FLORIDA — A tragic incident occurred at Arbor Terrace RV Park where a man and woman, later identified as 62-year-old Patricia Matejcek and 55-year-old Sean Harrison Sr., were discovered deceased in a mobile home. The Manatee County deputies responded to a disturbance call and found the victims.

Patricia’s son, Thomas Matejcek, is accused of their murder and faces second-degree murder charges. The sisters of the deceased, Kathleen White and Krista Kale, expressed their frustration with the Manatee County Justice system. They highlighted past incidents where Thomas violently assaulted his mother and her boyfriend, including an incident six months prior. Despite Thomas being deemed ‘incompetent’ for trial and released, no one was informed of his release.

Krista emphasized the need for better handling of such cases, suggesting that Thomas should have been kept in custody or placed in a state hospital due to his history of similar offenses.

The family is now seeking legal action to pursue justice.
