SILVER CITY, NEW MEXICO — New Mexico State Police seek public assistance concerning the homicide of Stephen Timmons near Silver City. Investigators estimate Timmons was murdered between 8:30-11 a.m. on June 26 while cycling on the Dragon Fly Trail System.
The victim, wearing black shorts with a white stripe, a light blue shirt, and a black helmet, was last seen leaving his home at 8:30 a.m. to go bike riding. After a Missing Endangered Person Advisory was issued at around 1:30 a.m. on June 27, it was canceled by 8 a.m. the same day upon locating Timmons.
Authorities request anyone with knowledge of the incident to reach out to the State Police at 575-382-2500, option 1. While no active threat is confirmed, people visiting the area are advised to stay alert.
