HOUSTON, TEXAS — Two individuals, Jelani Olukoga, 17, and Kyrand Jelks, 18, have been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection to the February killing of 16-year-old Zion Lampley.

Both suspects are being held without bond. Surveillance footage from the incident shows Lampley’s final moments on Imperial Valley Drive in North Park Forest, north Harris County, according to KTRK.

Court records reveal that Olukoga and others met with Lampley supposedly to sell him a gun. When Lampley attempted to pay for the firearm, he was informed that the money was insufficient, leading to someone in the car opening fire.

The vehicle then fled the scene. Authorities initially considered the possibility of a drug-related crime.

The video obtained by ABC13 shows Lampley conversing with someone in a gray car before being shot.

Harris County sheriff’s deputies reported that he was shot at least twice, tried to seek help, but ultimately collapsed and died.

Lampley was identified as a resident of a nearby apartment complex and a player on Dekaney High School’s football team.
