2 Men Try To Carjack Dodge Charger Hellcat, 1 Shot By Concealed Carrier

EASTPOINTE, MICHIGAN — A Michigan concealed carrier is likely grateful he invested the effort to carry this December when “at least” two men allegedly attempted to steal his Dodge Charger Hellcat.

In a fight that escalated into a shootout, the concealed carrier shot Damon Lamar Currie, 27, according to Fox News.

The carjackers were eventually routed thanks to the fact that they were blindsided by the prospect of a responsibly-armed citizen, and Currie allegedly bolted in a stolen Chevy Impala.

I could make a Klondike bar-esque joke about being willing to do anything to get out of a Chevy Impala, but I’ll let that slide.

Currie checked himself into the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, but after the hospital notified police about the gunshot wound as they’re required to do Currie bolted.

Following an “exhaustive investigation” according to Fox, Eastpoint detectives found Currie by tracking the Impala down. After a “brief pursuit” police captured him without incident.

When searched, Currie’s home and the car he’d stolen turned up evidence of the crime, although they were still trying to track down a second suspect at the time of Fox’s report.

Currie was allegedly charged with assault with intent to murder and “felony firearm.”

There’s a lot said about the need for a carry strategy in one’s vehicle — incidents like these prove that necessity.

Be able to access your concealed carry firearm while driving — your life may depend on it.
