7-Year-Old Girl Killed, Father Injured In McDonald’s Drive-Thru Shooting

Published

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A little girl is dead and her father injured after police say they were shot while at a McDonald’s drive-thru on Sunday. Details of what led up to the shooting are unclear, but an employee of the restaurant says that two people got out of a grey vehicle in the drive-thru and began shooting at the car.

Police identified the father as 29-year-old Jontae Adams, and his daughter as Jaslyn.

Adams was struck in the torso, and Jaslyn suffered multiple gunshot wounds. A video from a witness shows police trying to get both of them out of the vehicle, when suddenly an officer runs from the vehicle with a child in his arms. She is quickly rushed to a waiting police car and taken to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

The video below has graphic language and disturbing content.

Police believe that the shooting may have been gang-related. So far, no suspects have been identified or taken into custody. If you have information about the shooting, call 1-800-U-TELL-US or send a text message to 274637.

Gang violence is, and has been, out of control in Chicago for decades. The shooting rarely make the main stream news, and it takes moments like this for people to wake up and understand what the city goes through on a daily basis. Hopefully the people responsible are taken into custody, but until the gang problem is handled in Chicago, good citizens have two options: Move out, or arm yourself.
