Woman Shoots Man in Self-Defense After Being Assaulted and Held at Gunpoint

HOUSTON, TEXAS – A 39-year-old woman shot a man after he allegedly physically assaulted her and then pointed a gun at her. The woman grabbed her gun and shot him…multiple times. According to police, the incident occurred around 2 p. m. on Sunday, January 10th at the Oakmoor Apartments, located at 11900 Oakmoor Parkway.

He was transported to a local hospital with what were believed to be none-life-threatening gunshot wounds, but severe enough to make him unable to provide a statement to police.  The investigation is on-going, according to Detective K. Yeamans of the HPD Major Assaults and Family Violence Division.

It is not known if the man lived with the woman or in the apartment complex, or if they knew each other or had a relationship. What is known is that his decision to assault her ended badly for him. After physically attacking her he pulled a gun and ‘had the drop’ on her but he was the one who ended up getting shot.

Her courage and actions in using her handgun to defend herself against an aggressor who had already shown no hesitation to resort to physical violence probably saved her life.
