Suspect In Beating Of Portland Driver Arrested

PORTLAND, OREGON — The 25-year-old accused of beating a driver, including a servere kick to the head, has been arrested.

Marquise Love turned himself in and was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center, police said. He’s accused of felony assault, coercion and rioting and is being held on $260,000 bail.

Love, with his unfitting last name, was identified by witnesses and police after video of the attack went viral earlier this week.

A driver, who appears on video to have stopped to help a woman being hurt and robbed by a group of people, tried to take off in his truck after the group turned their attention to him.

He crashed, and was beaten after getting out of his truck. Love is then seen on video coming up behind the man and kicking him in the head, knocking him unconcious for as long as the video continued rolling.

This is the type of thing that citizens are encountering while going about their daily lives, and it’s likely to continue for the forseeable future.

With that, be mindful of what is happening around you, and try not to go into areas where protests and/or riots are occuring.

If you happen upon something of that nature, it’s best to try and get away as quickly and as safely as you can.

We live in a new kind of world. Stay armed and stay safe.
