Walgreens, CVS, Wegmans All Join Bandwagon Asking Customers Not To Openly Carry Firearms

Published

A few days after Walmart and Kroger made announcements asking customers to not open carry at their locations, three other retail giants are asking the same.

Walgreens (WBA), CVS (CVS) and Wegmans announced the new policy Thursday afternoon, following announcements from Walmart (WMT) and Kroger (KR) on Wednesday.

“We support the efforts of individuals and groups working to prevent gun violence, and continually review our policies and procedures to ensure our stores remain a safe environment,” CVS said in a statement.

When the policies of one large retailer change in a climate like we have today, it’s not surprising that others will follow suit.

What happens to open carriers at these locations is debatable, but arrest for trespassing isn’t out of the question. Each store will likely follow the policy, but may not enforce it at all times.

In our eyes, concealed carry is the way to go in any event. These new policies should still have gun owners concerned, however. It might not be long until some or all of these 5 companies decide to prohibit any form of firearm carry.

And if that happens, would you shop somewhere else? Would you fight back against the policy? Would you ignore it? Chime in below.
