Hi Point C9 (Gen 2?)
Hi Point shocked the gun world at Shot Show 19 when they introduced their updated and rebuilt Hi Point 9mm. The upgrades on the new model (yet to be named) are plentiful. It has a redesigned grip with a grip safety, an elongated rear sight base that can be removed to add a rail and optic, forward slide serrations, a threaded barrel, ambidextrous magazine release and an accessory rail. Best of all, the new Hi Point will have a double stack magazine that carries 10 rounds and expected to carry 15 rounds in the future. It is expected the new Hi Point model will be available in late 2019.
Taurus TX22
One of the most interesting handguns in 2019 is the Taurus TX22. It is a compact size .22 long rifle handguns that uses 16 round magazines. The TX22 is lightweight with a polymer frame and an aluminum slide. Most interestingly, it uses a single action trigger with a striker-firing system which is very unusual for a .22 LR pistol. The TX22 offers a threaded adapter in the case for those who prefer to add a suppressor, an ambidextrous thumb safety and an accessory rail. I called the TX22 Taurus’s new “rock star” because it is equipped with everything needed to be “competition ready” out of the case.
AreX Arms ReX Delta
The ReX Delta is everything that a shooter would want in a compact size, polymer frame, striker-fired 9mm handgun. Imported to the US by The Fime Group, the ReX Delta is a winner. It has excellent ergonomics, a crisp trigger, ambidextrous controls, a stiker-fire indicator, a loaded chamber indicator and an amazing shooting pistol. Arex Arms captured the market with their ReX Zero 1 models and they created the same reliability and accuracy performance with the ReX Delta.
Kahr K9 25th Anniversary
Kahr Arms created a custom K9 to commemorate their 25 years of producing the Kahr K9. The 25th Anniversary K9 is a blackened model with beautiful slide cuts and laser engraving. It has custom aluminum grips that are well engraved yet very functional. The mechanics of the 25th Anniversary K9 remain the same which will keep the Kahr fans pleased with it’s performance. I think the Kahr K9 is the flagship pistol in the Kahr line due to its history and incredible craftsmanship.
Remington RM380 Executive
In 2019, Remington took the all metal frame and ultra reliable micro-sized RM380 and added a touch of class with the new RM380 Executive pistol. The Remington RM380 Executive features a sharp stainless steel slide and beautiful wood grain grips. They took a reliable “all black” pistol and turned it into an upscale powerhouse. The RM380 Executive continues to use a long double action trigger pull, a hammer-fired system, snag-free design and integral sights. The Remington RM380 that I own is yet to have a malfunction of any kind using a variety of ammunition brands. The “Executive” RM380 still ships with two six round magazines and weighs just under 16 ounces loaded with six rounds.
