MEMPHIS, TN — One man’s gambit to make himself wealthy quick has landed himself in the hospital as his “victim” proved to be anything but.
As Local Memphis reports, a would-be robber attempted to hurt a man in a local gas station in broad daylight — 3:20 p.m. — earlier this month.
However, there’s one thing that the robber had not taken into the account — the possibility that his victim had a firearm, which, of course, he did.
After the assailant had begun his assault, his victim produced a firearm and shot the suspect, wounding him sufficiently to prompt the thug to retreat.
He didn’t get far.
Police reportedly caught him outside of the business and took him into custody.
Of course, first he had to go the hospital, what with being shot and all.
The would-be robber was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in non-critical condition.
It is amazing how many serious crimes take place near gas stations — truly. It certainly makes sense — thugs have a group of people, often unarmed, that really can’t go anywhere until their business is concluded, especially if you’re like me and run your car until it’s completely devoid of gas.
Most of those people are unarmed, and depending on the location of the gas station, the people fueling could very well be from another part of the state and country, making them all the more vulnerable.
All that to say — always be armed when you can, especially at gas stations.
And maybe not buy whatever thing they’ve got in the “fast food” corner.
