Angry Ex Proves Protection Order Is Just Paper… But An Equalizer Sure Isn’t

McMINN COUNTY, TN — One angry ex-boyfriend decided that the protection order that “prevented” him from going near his ex-girlfriend was actually just a piece of paper, and tried to assault his former girlfriend anyway.

Unfortunately for him, but fortunately for everyone else, she had armed herself and pretty quickly turned the tables.

As WTVC reports:

Sheriff Joe Guy also says 37-year-old Reginald Moten is also recovering from being shot several times by the woman. Guy says deputies were dispatched to a residence on Road 26 near Calhoun early Saturday morning at 1 a.m.

“It appears that a female at the residence had recently left her boyfriend (Reginal Moten) and had recently obtained arrest warrants and an order of protection against him for a previous domestic assault,” Guy said.

“Around 1 a.m., Moten came to the residence in violation of the order, and it appears he again assaulted [the woman], who then shot Moten several times. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to a Chattanooga hospital.”

“Moten still will face the previous charges, and now will be likely be charged with violating the order of protection and the assault once he is out of the hospital,” added Guy.

The woman who shot Moten has not been charged as of now, says Guy.

This concept of the Equalizer isn’t something we made up, folks — it’s a real application of a defensive tool that saves lives every day.

For pretty much everyone on this good earth, there is someone who is going to be either much bigger than them or much more capable of causing harm to them than they can defend against.

Responsibly-armed citizens are a powerful upset to a societal concept that has been with us for all history: the weak are privy to the will of the strong.
