CHICAGO, IL — One concealed carrier drew their firearm and used it at a local store when the peace was disturbed by a naked man menacing customers.
Well, he was mostly naked, anyway. The guy had socks.
As the Chicago Sun Times reports:
The 55-year-old man, who was naked except for his socks, caused a “disturbance” about 5:30 p.m. Monday outside the retail store in the first block of South Western Avenue, according to Chicago Police.
The man broke a glass and was acting menacingly toward others when the concealed carry permit holder fired a shot, striking the man in the leg, police said.
The 55-year-old was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said at the time. The shooter was questioned by investigators and released without being charged, police said.
I’m going to assume that this man was on something pretty powerful to behave this way. I’m going to choose to believe so, at any rate. The alternative is even stranger.
The Chicago Sun Times further reports that there are no expectations that the concealed carrier will face charges, although authorities are preparing to press charges against the overly-aggressive birthday suit model.
Oddly enough, however, the naked man was released before charges were pressed — they’ll have to get him once they’ve made up their minds, I suppose.
One thing to note from this is — and I hate that I have to actually write this — the thing that justified the shooter’s behavior wasn’t the nakedness of the man.
It was his menacing others.
The only reason I say that is because concealed carriers can’t be taking down oddballs because they’re acting strangely, even this oddly — public indecency is not a deadly threat.
Even so, so much gross.
