Man Fired From Job, Goes On Shooting Spree And His Targets Miraculously Escape Unharmed

SARASOTA, FLORIDA — A 58-year-old man, who was just fired from his maintenance position earlier in the week, went to a condo and confronted a man and woman. Police say the man was his target, and he began firing at the couple who took off running.

Luckily, neither was seriously injured during the scary encounter.

The suspect then went into a condo and barricaded himself, where police were on high alert and trying to talk with him all night. It wasn’t until the sun came up that they discovered he had shot himself dead.

The incident began around 11:30 pm, a time when many are asleep in their beds. We’re much more vulnerable while we sleep, of course, but there are many things we can do to give us an advantage when a madman with a gun is hunting us down.

A home security system is one advantage, coupled with cameras that provide real-time alerts to any movement outside (or inside) your home. A dog is another great addition, and they have alerted millions to dangers they saw before any human could.

A firearm close by, or other self-defense tool, is yet another important part of maintaining a safe home. The choices are up to you, but make sure that you have something implemented to better protect yourself, family and home.
