Sunshine State Now Allows You To Renew Your Concealed Carry Permit Online

SARASOTA, FLORIDA — You can renew your driver’s license online. Heck, in some states, you can renew your vehicle registration. Why not your concealed carry permit, too? If you live in Florida, good news! You can now renew your concealed carry permit online.

According to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the issuing body for concealed carry permits in Florida, they have guidelines posted for how to go about renewing your concealed carry application online.

After lowering fees for concealed carry applicants and reaching 1.5 million registered concealed carriers, Florida has decided to make the process even easier for those who already have a permit. Why not make the concealed carry permit process simple, easy, and convenient? It’s a constitutionally-backed right after all, isn’t it?

For renewals of out-of-state permits, you’ll have to include a set of fingerprints. And, if you got married and changed your name (or just changed your name), you need to include documentation to back that up.

It’s pretty easy. And it’s just another way how Florida is helping its citizens and visitors have a safe and enjoyable time while they’re in the Sunshine State.

Now, we just need to get concealed carry on campus pushed through the House and Senate and Florida will be downright cozy for law-abiding gun owners.

In Florida, there is a training requirement but it’s not a state-mandated course. A number of courses offered through an NRA-certified instructor are acceptable including:

  • NRA or FWCC Hunter safety course
  • NRA or DACS firearms safety course
  • Any course offered by a state-certified instructor offered to the general public, either hosted by law enforcement, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, or the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
  • And, obviously, courses offered through state-certified bodies for security guards, private investigators, and law enforcement.

Basically, Florida wants you to have some idea of how to handle a firearm safely before carrying one concealed. It’s basic and, once completed alongside your paperwork, it’s just a step in the process to getting that concealed carry permit.

So, if you’re a Florida resident or someone who frequently visits Florida, there’s even more reasons to obtain a Florida concealed carry permit. Have fun, be safe, and definitely carry every single day, everywhere you legally are able.
