On Tuesday morning, Dec. 20, Milwaukee police fatally shot a 66-year-old man at Vets Place Central, a veterans’ residence. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. after reports of an active shooter. The man, a resident of the facility, confronted police in the basement with a gun, leading one officer to shoot him. There were no other injuries.
The involved officers, one 38 years old with 20 years of experience, and the other 40 with over 13 years on the force, are undergoing standard procedures, with the shooter on administrative duty. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team, led by Oak Creek Police, is investigating the incident.
