5 People Stabbed, Suspect Shot And Killed By Police On California Campus

MERCED, CALIFORNIA — Five people were stabbed in series of knife attacks perpetrated by a lone student on the campus of University of California – Merced at approximately 8 am PST Wednesday morning according to sources at KCRA.  Two of the people were airlifted for immediate medical attention and the remaining three were treated for non-life-threatening injuries on campus.  The student was shot and killed by police.

Construction workers are credited with saving lives as they lead the attacker outside, where he was confronted by police and subsequently killed.  In his possession was a knife between 10 and 12 inches long.  That’s arguably a short sword.

Four victims were students attending classes on campus and the fifth is believed to be a construction worker.  Students and faculty are still recovering from the shock of this brutal attack.  The Univ. of California – Merced campus is shut down for the day and a press conference is scheduled for 4 pm PST today.

“It’s unbelievable that it happens to your campus,” student Yazmin Lopez said. “It’s really hard; it’s difficult to believe. It’s emotionally bad.”

In either case, concealed carry on campus is illegal by virtue of the recent laws passed in California.  This hasn’t abated or stopped campus crime as we earlier reported on the shooting of three in a campus parking lot earlier this year.

California is one of the states that has designated their public universities and campuses as gun free zones.

Could a Californian concealed carrier have been the key to stopping such an event before it gets out of hand?  You tell us in the comments section below.
