Woman Uses Gun To Scare Off Home Burglary Suspect

SUMTER COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA — On Thursday morning in Sumter, a woman, alerted by the sound of breaking glass, realized her home was being burglarized. She responded by firing her gun to deter the intruder around 7 a.m.

The event was captured on surveillance footage, which assisted Sumter Police in identifying and apprehending the suspect, Christopher Adrian England, aged 28, approximately two and a half hours later on Bultman Drive. England was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary.

Following treatment for a minor injury incurred during the incident, he was detained at the Sumter County Detention Center. The police have confirmed that the investigation is still active.
