Store Employee, Who Sought Firearms Training After Previous Robbery, Shoots Armed Robber To Death Who Pointed Gun At Employees

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA — A convenience store employee defended himself and others during an attempted robbery, resulting in the death of the armed suspect. Around 10:30 pm at the Happy Day Food Market & Deli on Wednesday, a 28-year-old man, masked and gloved, allegedly attempted to steal cash while pointing a gun at employees. An employee, a man in his early 20s, responded by shooting the suspect multiple times in the torso and chest. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The employee, who had obtained firearms training and a license after a previous robbery, cooperated with police investigations. Authorities confirmed the presence of money and a gun linked to the suspect. At the time of the incident, other employees and a customer were inside the store.

No charges have been filed against the employee, as police consider the shooting an act of self-defense. Both the suspect’s and the employee’s firearms were recovered by the police.
