CARMICHAEL, CALIFORNIA — A man, identified as 33-year-old Alonzo Brown, was injured in a shooting at the Olive Square Apartments in Carmichael, Sacramento County, after he reportedly initiated gunfire. Brown had been attempting to locate his girlfriend using his mobile device and wrongly traced her to an apartment at the mentioned location.

When he didn’t find her, he attempted to force his way in, eventually firing his gun upon seeing an occupant inside. In response, the resident, a licensed gun owner, shot back, injuring Brown in the torso.

Authorities arrived to find an unregistered handgun and an illegal extended magazine in Brown’s possession. Brown was taken into custody and will face charges once he recovers from his injuries.

The apartment’s resident had no known connection to Brown or his girlfriend.
