Armed Chicago Rideshare Driver Surprises 2 Armed Robbers With Lead

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A rideshare driver defended himself by firing at two individuals who reportedly robbed him of his cellphone and shot at him during his late-night shift on Friday, police reports indicate.

The driver, a 26-year-old with a valid concealed carry permit, had just completed a trip in the West Side of the city. The reported robbery took place shortly after 1 a.m. on Millard’s 1500 block.

The Chicago Police Department identified the alleged robbers: a 20-year-old male who sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg, and an 18-year-old female who had a minor bullet scrape on her right arm.

While the injured male was hospitalized and is in stable condition, the female declined medical attention.

Thankfully, the driver remained unharmed during this event.

The police have yet to announce any potential charges against the individuals involved, and as of now, the driver faces no charges.
