Homeowner Goes On The Offensive After Two Intruders Break In — Nails Both Of Them

Published

PETROS, TENNESSEE — A homeowner reported to deputies that he heard two intruders break into his house when he decided to take matters into his own hands.

Don Cox reported to the police that after hearing two home invaders come crashing in, he instantly feared for his life and drew his pistol. Not wanting to wait for the intruders to make it to his room, he figured on taking the element of surprise. He grabbed his home defense pistol, jerked open the door and opened fire on both Joseph Hinde and an unnamed 17 year old boy.

Both intruders were floored in the initial volley of bullets. Cox, facing two downed opponents, then did the responsible thing and called 911.

When deputies arrived, both were gravely injured but were expected to recover with medical care. Hinde, one of the intruders, is being booked for delinquency of a minor and aggravated burglary.

When home invaders enter, they should expect the possibility of armed resistance.
