BELEN, NEW MEXICO — Belen police are conducting an investigation following a fatal shooting of a woman in a Sonic’s parking lot. The incident occurred around 7:09 p.m. Friday near 713 N. Main Street.

The woman, who was found with a chest gunshot wound, unfortunately did not survive despite the life-saving efforts of the responding officers. The incident reportedly resulted from a verbal disagreement, after which the suspects fled but eventually returned and surrendered. Several individuals connected to the event are currently under arrest.
