5-Year-Old, With Cocaine In System, Shoots And Kills Younger Brother, Parents Charged

LAFAYETTE, INDIANA — The parents of a 16-month-old child, fatally shot by his 5-year-old sibling earlier this year, have been charged with multiple crimes related to the tragic incident.

According to police, both children had drugs in their systems at the time; the older child tested positive for cocaine, and the toddler had traces of marijuana.

The father, who was present during the incident, reported hearing a loud sound while he was asleep on the couch, only to find his younger son injured. Parents Deonta Johnson, 27, and Shatia Welch, 24, were arrested recently following the uncovering of new evidence.

They are now facing a series of felony charges, including neglect of a dependent leading to death and bodily injury, conspiracy to deal in narcotics, and possession of narcotic drugs.

This couple is the prefect example of people unfit to have firearms, and IMHO should never be allowed to own them again. You lose your right when you’re a complete moron, especially when an innocent life is lost. These incidents are 100% preventable and there is absolutely no excuse for them to happen, ever.
