UNION CITY, GEORGIA — Josh Dobbs, a man in Union City, is being praised for his quick action that helped stop a man from doing even more damage after stabbing three women early Saturday morning, according to a report.
Speaking exclusively to FOX 5 Atlanta after the incident, Dobbs said he couldn’t sit still when he heard what he thought were a woman’s screams coming from the Hidden Lake Apartments.
Dobbs would later learn that two women had already been attacked when he stepped outside, and he just happened to be there when the suspect started to stab the third victim.
Dobbs explained, “I just couldn’t sit there and watch and hear what was going on.”
Dobbs then intervened and shot the suspect, who was later identified as the person responsible for stabbing the three women. One of the women died from the injuries she sustained during the attack.
Union City Police Captain, Prentice Brooks, said Dobbs’ actions saved lives, “As the male subject was assaulting these female subjects with the knife, an onlooker saw the assault taking place. He stepped up and stopped the threat. He did shoot the suspect.”
The captain went on to commend Dobbs for stepping up, “We actually commend him for what he did and stepping up.”
Dobbs revealed that he was motivated by his respect for women and a desire to do the right thing,
“I have a daughter, and I have a lot of respect for females and everything, so I was just doing the right thing and stepping up,” he said.
Police are still investigating the incident, but they suspect it was a domestic dispute that resulted in the stabbings.
