Armed Chicago Security Guard Stops Jewelry Store Robbery Smash-And-Grab Attempt

Published

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — A trio of men wearing ski masks walked into a high-end jewelry store and went up to a watch counter. At least one of them pulled out a hammer from his jacket. An alert security guard was able to stop them before any of the glass cases were smashed, and tried ordering the group to the ground.

The masked trio made the decision to ignore the armed security guard, instead fleeing the store and jumping into a waiting vehicle outside.

The security guard did his job, and showed enough restraint not to pull the trigger when lives were not in danger.

The store, Magnificent Mile, is a chain of high-end jewelry stores that have seen these types of robberies as of recent. Police are trying to determine if the same group is responsible for the string of recent robberies.
