WINSTON-SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA — A man pretending to hold a gun under his clothes tried stealing money from the register at a Family Dollar store, but his plan didn’t quite work out the way he had hoped. One of the employees he was trying to rob was armed.

The armed robber was shot in the leg and limped away, and police later located him at his home. He resisted arrest, was bit by a police K-9, and all around had a pretty bad day.

The suspect was identified as Avondre McLaurin, who was taken to the hospital for his new bullet hole injury and dog bites.
