Multiple Gunmen Fire Into Halloween Party Crowd “From Elevated Position”, Killing 2 And Injuring 12

JOLIET, ILLINOIS — A Halloween party that brought roughly 200 people together in a backyard ended with gunfire after police say two or more gunmen opened fire on the crowd “from an elevated position on a porch looking down over the crowd.”

The incident began at 12:39 a.m. outside a residence where the party was occurring, near a DJ booth that was set up.

“Everyone was there having fun, and all of a sudden as we’re dancing on the back patio, shots started going off from the porch,” a witness told reporters.

Police arrived quickly, and were met with up to 100 people running down the street in the direction away from the shooting. Some victims were found at the home and others were located at nearby homes.

As first responders were attending to the victims, more gunshots rang out nearby.

In the end, 2 people died and 12 others were injured, 4 critically.

Witnesses said the host of the party was trying to get people to leave, apparently when things seemed a little out of control after uninvited people began to show up.

Police are asking anyone who attended the party who may have information or cell phone video to contact the Will County Sheriff’s Office at 815-727-8574, extension 4930, or via email at [email protected]
