Woman Shoots Man In Self-Defense During Domestic Dispute

MARCOLA, OREGON — A man was shot by his female victim during a domestic violence incident north of Marcola, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office. The LCSO and Oregon State Police responded to a home in the 40000 block of Log Creek Road around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officers located a man and woman at the scene.  The man, identified as 42-year-old Jesse Yoakum, allegedly attacked the woman by strangling her and attempting to strike her with a bat, according to police. The woman used a handgun to shoot him once in the shoulder.

Yoakum was transported to an area hospital for treatment and was taken into custody on charges including strangulation, menacing and fourth-degree assault. The woman did not receive any serious injuries in the assault.
