Man Shot And Killed After Banging On Car Window And Yelling Threats At Stoplight

Published

MIRAMIR, FLORIDA — A man was shot and killed after he approached a vehicle that was stopped at a red light, and began banging on the window and yelling threats, according to police. It was noted that the man attempted to enter the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, feeling that his life was in danger, pulled out his firearm and shot the man, who was found dead at a nearby gas station.

A cousin told CBS4’s Peter D’Oench that the man who lost his life was 30 and had served two tours of duty as a Marine in Afghanistan and suffered from PTSD.

Police don’t believe that the two men knew each other, and aren’t quite sure what caused the man to do what he did. They have also ruled out road rage.

This can be a touchy topic, but generally, if you’re in legitimate fear for your life, you have the right to use deadly force to stop that threat. Given that the incident happened in the middle of the night, that can only amplify things for the driver.

It’d be a scary situation for sure. No charges have been filed against the driver, but the case is being reviewed.
