HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS – A woman fatally shot her ex-boyfriend in self-defense Saturday afternoon after he assaulted her.  Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies say it happened in the 2700 block of Donella Drive around 12:15 p.m.

The 29-year-old woman called 911 and told dispatchers that the man was at the home to pick up his belongings. Once inside the house he assaulted her, head butting and choking her. She was able to get away from him and get her hands on a handgun that was kept inside the home. She shot and killed him, stopping the assault.

According to deputies, there were also two small children in the house. They were in a different room from where the shooting occurred and were not injured. It wasn’t readily known if the children belonged to the man and woman. The investigation is on-going.
