PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA — Detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating a shooting incident connected to a home invasion in North Reddington Beach. Early in the morning on December 27, 2023, deputies were called to Gulf Boulevard after reports of 51-year-old Robert Jackson causing a disturbance. Shortly after, a 911 call led them to a nearby residence on Bath Club Boulevard North, where Jackson was found with a gunshot wound.

The inquiry revealed that Jackson had broken into the home using a large rock to smash the window and got into a physical altercation with a 74-year-old woman inside. Her 76-year-old husband shot Jackson in the shoulder. Jackson then attempted another burglary but was soon apprehended by the authorities.

He was hospitalized for his injuries, which were non-life-threatening, and faces charges including Burglary with Battery and Attempted Residential Burglary. The detectives have indicated that this appears to be an isolated incident with no further danger to the community. The investigation is still underway.
