Road Rage Leads To Defensive Shooting, Truck Driver Shoots Man In Face

HOUSTON, TEXAS — I personally have only ever experienced road rage a couple times in my life. Both times it was about slow moving traffic. Although I am a mild mannered person, there are others who take road offenses very seriously.

Both vehicles exited the freeway and stopped at a stop sign. Gilliland said that was when a man in the sedan got out of the car, walked up to the box truck and started trying to open the driver’s side door. The driver of the box truck pulled out a gun and shot the man in the face, Gilliland said.

Both men are claiming that it was the other who committed the road infraction of cutting them off. However, it was the driver of the Sedan who got out of the car to escalate the situation. A decision he certainly regrets today.

The sedan driver exited his car and attempted to gain entry into the box truck. This is when the truck driver took out his legally concealed firearm and shot the other man in the face. Right now it is each of their own words against each other. A Grand Jury is going to decide if the box truck driver will face charges.

Assuming this incident played out as described, the box truck driver certainly had every right to defend himself. An angry road rage-filled person trying to force their way into my car would also be staring down the barrel of a gun.

This is why it is so important to carry, wherever and whenever. Even if you intend just a quick drive to the store, you never know when something like this is going to happen. If driving while carrying is uncomfortable, many holster companies make holsters specifically for carrying in the car.
