BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT — A man is dead after police say he attempted to stab someone, but that intended target was carrying a firearm and refused to be a victim.
The incident was caught on surveillance video, and shows the man attempting to stab someone. The target is then seen drawing a firearm and shooting, police say.
When police arrived, they said they found a man, later identified as 41-year-old Jose Perez-Ortiz, of Monroe, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Authorities said Perez-Ortiz was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he later died.

Police have not released the identity of the intended victim.
