Pipe-Armed Burglar Wasn’t Aware That The Business Owner Lives Where He Works… And He’s Armed

LANCASTER, KY — A Kentucky man armed with a pipe had his plans to rob a local business ruined when he discovered that the establishment was not only occupied by the business owner, but that business owner was armed.

I guess you could call his “get rich quick” scheme a pipe dream.

I’m sorry. It had to be done, and I stand behind it.

According to WDKY:

A man is in jail accused of breaking into a Garrard County business before being shot by the owner. The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at a business on Old Lexington Road.

Police said Dale Parker and Joseph Bickett got into the business from the roof. Parker was armed with a metal pipe when he was confronted by the owner, who lives there.

The owner told police Parker threatened him, so he shot Parker.

As police were arriving at the scene, officers say they found Bickett nearby. He was taken into custody. Police continued on to the business where they found the suspect suffering from a gunshot wound inside.

Parker was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital and was released around 6:30 a.m. Parker was then taken to the Lincoln County Detention Center.

As the owner lives at his business, this makes for an odd kind of combination of both home defense and carrying at work.

If you are one of the increasing number of Americans who are working from home (you lucky dogs, you), it is vital that not only do you have a practical, thought-out home defense plan, but an office (business) defense plan as well.

Stay safe out there, folks.
