Woman Shoots Ex-boyfriend In Self-Defense Outside Gas Station

DES MOINES, IA —  A spat between two exes turned incredibly violent at a local gas station when the ex-girlfriend shot her ex-boyfriend in his car.

She claims that her ex was trying to run her over with his car, and that he ran over her foot. Her ex-boyfriend claims that she followed her to the gas station and shot him.

As The Des Moines Register reports:

At about 11:45 p.m., the woman called police to report that she had shot her ex-boyfriend outside Kum & Go, 2110 Guthrie Ave., according to a Des Moines police report.

She told police her ex-boyfriend had tried to run her over with his vehicle, so she fired the gun in self defense, according to the report.

A police officer later went to the man’s home, where the man was found with a gunshot wound to his knee, according to the report. The officer called medics, and the man was later transported to a hospital.

The man told police that he and his ex-girlfriend had been arguing “off and on all day,” according to the report. The argument reportedly started over disagreement about which one of them owned their children’s photos.

Although there was no visible evidence of the woman’s foot being run over, it was clear that there had been an earlier altercation.

As of last Wednesday, the case remained under investigation, and neither of the two had been charged yet.

It’s a muddy, muddy situation.
