KIRKERSVILLE, OHIO — Around 9 am local time this morning, an active shooter threat came to an end after police responded to shots fired at a nursing home. An officer was reportedly shot in an ‘ambush attack’ during the incident and is in “very critical” condition.

Two others at the nursing home were also reportedly shot after the gunman entered the building. It is also reported that eventually, the gunman shot himself.

Police have not released any other details at this time.

Historically, locations of this type seem to be top choices of people looking to do harm. These locations are also usually ‘gun free zones’, leaving everyone vulnerable to attack until help arrives.
