Gas Station Clerk Shoots Customer For Not Wearing Mask, Then Shoots Himself

Published

A Las Vegas gas station clerk is deceased from a self-inflicted wound after shooting a customer for not wearing a mask five days before the state’s mask mandate was lifted.

Around 8:30 AM on Feb. 6, 2022, a customer walked into a Las Vegas gas station without a mask on. At the time, there was a state mask mandate requiring everyone to wear a mask in indoor public places. The clerk told the customer to put on a mask which he refused.

When the customer went to pay for his items, the clerk refused to serve him. According to 8 News Now, “the customer walked out of the store without paying for the items.” I am assuming that he walked out with the items, which is why the clerk chased after him recording the incident on his phone.

The two got into a physical fight, and the clerk drew a gun and shot the customer. According to the attorney for the victim, he was shot in the back. Assuming the clerk realized what he did and that he would likely be going to jail, he turned the gun on himself.

This is just a tragic incident altogether. The fact that the mask mandate was lifted just five days later makes it even worse. One person shot and another man dead by suicide over a mask? But the clerk should have never followed the customer out of the store, even if he was stealing some items. If he had just stayed inside, he would most likely be alive now and not worrying about people wearing masks in his store.
