Home Invasion Suspect Shot By Woman After He Climbed Through Her Baby’s Window

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA — An intruder armed with a gun, zip ties, and a walkie talkie broke in through the window of a family’s home in broad daylight. The mother returned home to hear the crash of a window coming from the vicinity of the infant’s room and rushed to respond. Once she encountered the man, now identified as William Barnes, 38, he allegedly opened fire upon her. She used her own handgun to return fire, striking him multiple times. The infant was reportedly not hurt during the exchange and the suspect is in custody after being transported to the hospital.

“She heard the window get busted and she called her husband and said I think somebody’s breaking in the house,” said the woman’s father.

Family members, including her brother, responded to the scene with haste but the suspect was already down by the time they arrived.

“He broke in through the baby’s window, ok, and when he was coming out the door, my sister was coming out her bedroom door, he aimed and shot at her first and then she shot him,” said the woman’s brother.

This truly is a ‘Guns Saving Lives’ story. A man willing to endanger the lives of an infant and mother and equipped for some quite sinister activities would have literally had no resistance if this woman hadn’t been able to use her gun to defend her life, the life of her child, and her home.

This is why we carry and take carrying concealed so seriously. We never know who’s coming, what their intentions are, or the lengths they’re willing to go to achieve their means. Because those are unknowns, we need to reduce the variables. And one of those variables is your ability to fight back.

This family is still together and in good health because this woman took the initiative, made the proper calls, and proceeded to defend the life of her child against a man who opened fire on her within her own home. What more needs to be said about that?

Carry everyday — everywhere — and especially at home.
