“Dolla, Dolla, Bills Y’all” — Facebook Post Gets A Guy Capped; Lessons Learned

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA — Desperate world, much?  We’re hearing tale from The Morning Call of a Philedelphia man getting shot in his own home after posting a fabricated photo of $60,000 on his Facebook wall.  Apparently, several armed robbers thought it was for real and raided his home.  This raid resulted in his death, according to Philadelphia authorities.

While many in the audience may slap their foreheads and say aloud, “all of this could have been easily prevented if he just didn’t post it to Facebook,” — that’s only half the battle.

Situational awareness involves “best guessing” possible consequences of your actions.  It’s impossible to clearly see the future, as this gentleman unfortunately found out.  The worst part is — he didn’t even have the money in the first place.  Some guys who saw his Facebook post thought to themselves, “oh this is an easy $60k — all we got to do is rob him!”

And that’s the other half.

Facebook is a potential source of leaking sensitive and incriminating information that can be later used against you by:

a.) a court of law

b.) violently armed criminals

c.) people out to get dirt on you

d.) your in-laws

e.) all of the above

Yes.  “All of the above” is the correct answer.

The other half of situational awareness is being prepared.  That means keeping your concealed carry pistol on you even while at home.  This guy was hit in his home.  That can happen to any of us.  So a good rule of thumb — if you can keep it on you, keep it on you.

Criminals are a desperate and dumb breed.  Some are dumber than others.  The guys who did this obviously thought they were geniuses until the entire thing resulted in the death of an innocent man and no theft of real money or assets.

Let’s all learn a lesson on this one — keep it tight on Facebook (“loose lips sink ships”) and keep your concealed carry pistol on you as often as possible.
