Woman Shoots Abusive Ex-Boyfriend In Self Defense, Will Not Face Charges

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE — A 23-year-old woman shot and injured her abusive ex-boyfriend after he stormed into her home as she was walking out Saturday morning.

Once inside the home, the ex-boyfriend assaulted her. That’s when the woman grabbed her firearm and shot him in self-defense. The pair wrestled over the firearm, and the ex was able to gain control of it and took off. He got into his vehicle with another woman.

His next trip was to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The young woman will not be facing any charges.

Luckily for this woman, her ex did not use the firearm against her after he gained control over it. It’s an important reminder to A) keep as much distance between yourself and the attacker as you can, and B) make sure to maintain control over your firearm at all costs.

I’m not trying to pass judgement, since I wasn’t there to see how things unfolded, but these are points that we should be reminded of so that we can avoid them in the future.

In any event, it was enough to send this abusive man running. That’s the ultimate goal; get rid of the threat. These things don’t usually play out like they do in the movies.
